About AUM

Dr. Sheburra Haugsness has worked in education for the majority of her life. Born in Japan and raised all around the world, she wholeheartedly believes education is one of the best ways to bring about positive change in the world. She was a public school teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada, for 13 years starting 2006, before establishing the Academy of Universal Metaphysics (AUM). She was an influential middle school math and Japanese teacher and became a recipient of the Heart of the Education award in 2016. She completed her PhD in Educational Psychology in 2018 with her insights in Math Pedagogy—the art of teaching. In 2016, she experienced a spontaneous spiritual awakening and catapulted into expanding her consciousness. This greatly elevated her quality of life. It was her discovery in metaphysics that gave her sovereignty in establishing AUM, a spiritual-based academy. Together with academic applications, she envisioned learners to have opportunities to find their own personal powers by exploring who they are from within, and how they are interconnected to the world. “The Academy of Universal Metaphysics is an academy that is interested in the application of knowledge and skills, to better ourselves and the world around us. Metaphysics is beginning to be explained by science such as within quantum physics. Empirical discoveries are revealing its undeniable universal nature of what’s beyond the physical. For most of us, we grow gradually into our spirituality through life-long lessons and experiences of healing that we are here to receive. For others they may grow quicker through experiencing life-altering events or phenomena like a near-death experience. Metaphysics can be experienced all though raising our consciousness. Learners as young as Kindergarten are already receptive to infinite possibilities. What if we have an academy that conscientiously embraces metaphysics?—A space where educators and learners interact with the energy of creation for the best and highest interest for all. The Academy of Universal Metaphysics will be a leading example of ways to holistically nurture healthy, happy, and productive human beings for generations to come”. Dr. Haugsness wishes for learners to become not only productive members of society but equally compassionate people. Through empathy and understanding of interconnectedness of all humans, which is what she continues to learn through metaphysics. AUM upholds these standards. In order to create a more compassionate world… The Academy of Universal Metaphysics embraces spiritual teachings. We explore variety of ways to improve relationships with ourselves through deepening our connection with the divine source energy (God). Our spiritual and metaphysical (beyond the physical reality) teachings and practices do not discriminate or criticize any aspect of faith or religion that encourages self healing, cultivation, and service to others. For a more compassionate world, we embrace courage, empathy, creativity, and joy that comes from being a part of a higher power and purpose. AUM openly speaks, teaches, and practices the art of prayer, meditation, yoga/Tai Chi, mindfulness, and Reiki, to name a few, on a daily basis. Universal laws such as the Law of Attraction, Law of Gratitude, and the Law of Universal Oneness are taught to elevate our consciousness to better understand, respect, and accept ourselves and the interconnectedness with others and our world. At AUM we create opportunities for our students to discover God’s presence from within themselves.
